Joeri Wesseling

As an academic researcher I examine the role of established firms in socio-technical transitions. My work focuses on their innovation strategies to assess how they respond to emerging sustainable technologies, as well as their political strategies in response to regulations. I also study what factors influence innovation policy. My research focuses on the automotive industry, as well as energy intensive natural resource industries such as steel, chemicals and paper and pulp.

I finished my PhD at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University, in January 2015 and continued working as a post-doctoral researcher at CIRCLE, Lund University, Sweden. I have consulted for various organizations and currently work back at Copernicus as Assistant Professor where I teach and continue my research on sustainability transitions.
